Our Story

Welcome to Little Explorers!

Founded by Miss Sam, our mission is to help families build meaningful connections through nature. Our programs are designed to create space for curiosity, confidence building, and learning through outdoor exploration.

Sam graduated from UConn with a BS in Natural Resources with a concentration in Wildlife Conservation. She began her career as an environmental educator and wildlife rehabilitator at Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton. In January 2020, Sam welcomed her first son into the world and began teaching a mommy and me style class at RBNC. After her daughter was born in 2021, she left RBNC and Little Explorers was born.

What started as a weekly guided forest hike has grown into a thriving outdoor community offering a variety of classes, seasonal events, and enrichment programs. From our beloved annual Forest Egg Hunt to joyful collaborations with local gems like Bristol's Farm, My Little Sprigs, The Cows Coop, and Barden Farm, we love creating memorable experiences for families with our local community.

In summer 2024, we proudly expanded into the homeschooling community with the launch of Forest Academy. By fall 2025, Miss Chelsea joined the team, expanding our offerings with multiple classes each week. Miss Chelsea spent 15 years teaching kindergarten in public school but knew her calling was to teach through the outdoors. She has been a wonderful addition to our community.

Today, Little Explorers continues to grow while staying true to our mission; helping children explore the outdoors, teaching families about the beautiful world around us, building friendships, and falling in love with nature.

We are so happy you're here and can't wait to explore together.
